David Rose
Director of Education and Music Instruction
David Rose embarked on his musical odyssey by embracing the trumpet in his formative years as a fifth-grade student participating in the school band. Transitioning from a prosperous tenure in business management, he dedicated himself to his musical calling by attaining academic accolades from Merced College. His educational pursuits honed his expertise in guitar performance, with a specialized focus on music theory, and culminated in a degree in music history. Since 2010, David has imparted his musical knowledge to aspiring students within the expansive Merced locale. In 2019, he co-founded Rose Music Studios in collaboration with his wife, Leanna, solidifying his commitment to musical education and excellence.
Leanna Rose
Director of Student Relations
Leanna Rose brings over 25 years of extensive experience in Customer Service and Administrative roles. With her roots in The Bay area, she cultivated a deep appreciation for live music through her upbringing in her parents' country night club in Santa Clara. During this period, she honed her vocal talents by occasionally performing with the bands, fostering her passion for singing. In 2015, Leanna made the strategic decision to relocate to Merced after spending 15 years in Nashville, TN. It was in Merced that she crossed paths with David Rose, and their shared vision led to the establishment of Rose Music Studios in 2019.
Bj Humpal
Music Instruction
BJ Humpal, a highly experienced band director based in Merced, CA, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise with 24 years in the field of music education. His extensive career includes teaching individuals of diverse age groups in schools throughout Merced County, including those within the Merced City School district, the Weaver School district, and the Merced Union High School district. Through a combination of warmth, inclusivity, and professionalism, BJ delivers instruction that not only inspires enthusiasm but also imparts valuable educational content to his students.
Marion Roubal
Music Instruction
Marion holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Music from San Francisco State University, earned in 2001. Her professional experience includes serving as a music teacher for Vallejo City Unified School District, where she instructed students in band, choir, and music theory. Subsequently, Marion transitioned to teaching English abroad. Throughout her career, she has maintained an active involvement in music performance, coaching, and collaboration with fellow musicians in informal settings. In 2008, Marion enlisted in the US Navy, and in 2015, she joined the National Park Service. Presently, Marion fulfills the role of Ranger at Yosemite National Park, while also reigniting her passion for music. She advocates for her students to establish a strong foundation in music theory and underscores the significance of physical endurance, precision, and personal expression in musical performance.
Mike Mancebo
Music Instruction
Mike has over 18 years of experience playing drums and has been teaching since 2012. He specializes in providing intermediate to advanced lessons on a variety of percussion instruments including snare drum, drum set, xylophone, marimba, bongos, and congas. With a strong foundation in concert band, marching band, and rock bands since adolescence, Mike is dedicated to continuous practice and improvement in his craft.
